Thanks for posting this article. I was taken back when reading this statement..."An astonishing amount of today’s popular music is written by two people: Lukasz Gottwald of the United States and Max Martin from Sweden." I recognize that pop is more performance art than musicianship so I get why they're using others to write, but why are two people dominating this space? It's tragic that our school systems put little value on music appreciation and disappointing that so few care - both school administrators and parents. It costs little or nothing to expose students to all types of music, just an open mind and willingness to do so.
Art study and cultivation have long been regarded as expendable where budgets and diversion of funding have been concerned. No concern about the appreciation or validity of art installations has ever been given a second thought, primarily since they are practices that amateurs also enjoy. Thus, the reduction in concern about their necessity or their alleged "seriousness."
